FF-PIR Polyurethane Insulation – A Safe, Durable, And Maintenance-Free Choice

FF-PIR was designed as a solution for energy efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable construction. Good thermal insulation provides the foundation for ecologically sustainable construction. Offering safe moisture and fire performance and excellent thermal insulation capacity, FF-PIR insulation products provide more effective insulation with less material. When the amount of structural materials required is lower, both the carbon footprint of construction and financial costs will also be reduced throughout the life-cycle of the building. Despite this, you do not have to compromise on performance, as the maintenance-free FF-PIR is unquestionably one of the best thermal insulation products on the market – today and in 50 years’ time.

Ecological FF-PIR Is An Extraordinary Feat Of Circular Economy

The greenest PIR on the market does not just mean the color of our product, as the circular economy is one of our core values. FF-PIR thermal insulation is a tangible example of this. FF-PIR insulation is manufactured primarily from MDI and polyol. Together with our partners, we have developed a unique cooperation concept where process waste consisting of PET plastic, which is difficult to reutilize, is refined into polyol. We use the former waste transformed into recycled polyol in our production as one of the two primary raw materials for FF-PIR.
We collect and recover unused FF-PIR off-cuts from worksites and hardware stores. Together with production waste, this material is recycled as raw material in our production: the recycled material is used in the production of FF-FRAME profiles, which contain up to 90% recycled material, i.e., crushed PIR insulation

  • Suitable for both new and repair construction
  • Excellent for thermally insulating roofs and walls
  • High thermal insulation capacity that allows for thinner insulation thicknesses (declared thermal conductivity λD 0.022 W/mK)
  • Safe moisture performance and mold-proof construction – durable and long-lasting
  • Fire safe
  • Maintenance-free

Polyurethane insulation products are divided into PUR and PIR insulations according to the material mixture. As the FF-PIR brand name denotes, Finnfoam Oy only uses PIR insulation materials, which offer significantly better fire resistance than PUR insulation materials. The fire rating class of the insulating foam component of FF-PIR insulation is D-s2, d0.
FIRE PERFORMANCE AND CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

  • The service temperature of FF-PIR insulation products is -50…+120 °C, but they can temporarily withstand temperatures in excess of +200 °C.
  • In a fire scenario, the insulation surface will char to restrain reignition.
  • FF-PIR insulation products have a high chemical resistance and they are very resistant to solvents, softeners, and mineral oils.

As the FF-PIR insulation is self-extinguishing, it will restrain the fire from spreading and the charring of its surface restrains re-ignition. However, the FF-PIR insulation products cannot be installed directly on to a chimney, for example, without a 20–120 mm gap in between, depending on the solution and the chimney material.

PL = diffusion-proof plastic laminate on both sides of the panel, AL = diffusion-proof aluminum laminate on both sides of the panel, GY = 9-mm gypsum board with tapered edges on one side of the panel, CL = diffusion-proof paper laminate on both sides of the panel, I = flat edge, L = rabbet, K = tongue and groove, S = renovation panel.
A 20 x 100 mm strip of wood can be embedded into the joints between panels; K600 = A frame panel with a flat edge on the longer sides and tongue and groove at the ends.
All products are available with a flat edge, rabbet or tongue and groove.
